use a diamond and draw a line at the end of the crack on both ends, crack will move to the line and stop,so make it close as you can to start with

you can either left it in a auto shop to repair it cuz you can not use tape to over the hole cuz you wont see where you are going. so i would put it in a auto shop untill i buy to windshield to replace to broken one

Use the type of fibre glass that people use to fix dings in their surf boards. Just spread it over the crack on both the inside and outside.

My boyfriend and I got a huge crack in our windshield when we were driving around europe and it worked for us. The glass pretty much held the whole summer.

There is a kit you buy at any automotive store for $10. Follow the directions carefully.

Go to a glass repair shop or your insurance agent and ask if they have the little circles made by Novus. They are applied to the rock star to keep them from spreading until you can repari it.

Alot depends on the weather. In the winter it will spread more quickly. I had a new windshield put in , and a week later a pebble(or BB) hit it and Im stuck with a dot on the shield. Get a new shield for about 250.00. It sucks to pay but it feels good. Put some mud flaps on the vehicle or a front grill block to avoid the pebbles and the problem I just went through.

If it is just a stone chip or star, cover it with tape to keep moisture out and call a chip repairing glass company(yellow pages for your area). For around $50(what I paid in Colo)you can have it repaired which will prevent spreading and avoid it developing into a large crack.

get tiny diamond drill bit and drill it at the end of the crack and then fill that hole with clear filler .. that will stop it cracking for long time … drill with care do not force the drill .. good luck

There's a method called "stop drilling." What you do is: get a very small drill bit, about 1/16th" size. Make sure the bit is of good quality, such as titanium or cobalt. Both should be available at your local hardware store. Then simply drill a small dimple at the very tail end of the crack. Make sure the dimple is as the end of the crack, barely touching it, or even about 1/32" past it. Depth of the dimple should be no more than 1/32" or so, which is about 1/5 the thickness of your windshield. Then, simply put a dab of any cyano-crylic glue in the dimple. (Ask your hardware store guy to show you some CA glue–it's similar to Super Glue.)
This dimple will stop the crack from spreading.

you cant … it will grow … especially if it a starburst with several cracks growing everywhere … a single bad crack thats heading off the diamond bit drill method works sometimes if you can drill in front of it without causing the crack to get worse as you drill lol …. dont forget a windshield is two layers … so if you do try the drill method you have to drill from the side that the crack is on … usually the outside….. trust me, get a new windshield before you wind up spending more time and money trying to repair it than a new windshield costs.

A windshield I am not certain about, but…

Our leaded glass windows cracked in a hail storm. The repair man suggested that we use clear packing tape on them until he could get here to do an actual repair (sometime in the next two months). So far it has been working really well. I would tape the inside of the windshield. Hope this helps.

If you take it to an auto repair shop, they will fix this crack very cheaply. I got a spot like that fixed for about 20. It was on employee discount, but that was only 10% off, so it wouldn't be no more than 50 in even some of the more expensive places in the south. Of course if you are somewhere else, it could be closer to 100.

If you have insurance call someone and they will come to your house replace for free.

Not sure if you have this south of the border, but we got an auto company called Apple AutoGlass that specializes in these things.

heavy duty duct tape like you would put on a window before a hurricane hits..it will prevent the crack from spreading

There are windshield repair shops that fix the cracks with an epoxy put in with pressure and heat. In Mexico the glass shops draw a circle around a small crack with a glass cutter..not a deep cut more of an etched circle. That keeps the crack from spreading.

windshields are two pieces of safety glass with a rubberized laminate bonding between the two, if you have a crack on one side of the glass you can tell by using your fingernail to feel it, and check the other side to make sure its not on both sides, if you know how to do this , is you very carefully drill a small hole(with a glass bit 1/8) one the cracked side but do not go Thur the other side and drill it at the end of the existing crack, at the end in the direction its going OK( this will stop the crack ), pep boys and or any good auto parts store, sell's a windshield kit, that after you drill your hole you inject this gel or silicon type substance and it will not only stop the crack it will fix it as well, and if you don't it will continue to crack , but it depends how you drive and where you live and what temps the vehicle is subjected to OK, take care,

By getting it fixed sooner- rather than later.

You can get window fix at the auto shop to do it your self.

First aid is super glue at the ends of the lines, then scotch or clear tape from inside. Best to get your windshields tinted with 3M tints next time so if it happens again – it won't break as bad.
